The role
Reporting to the General Manager, this role will be responsible for leading the overall Fleet function as a strategic partner to Nationwide Group, with a prime focus on fleet optimisation, procurement, and supplier relationship management.
This role develops, executes, and owns fleet strategies that drive cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and performance through data-driven decision-making, while leading a small team and partnering with senior leaders and external vendors to enhance business operations.
In this role you will:
- Support the achievement of Fleet team goals by improving fleet performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness through strategic planning and data analysis.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on fleet performance, operational efficiencies, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, logistics, maintenance, and safety) to optimise fleet performance and align with broader business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, servicing, and fleet maintenance standards, and manage fleet licensing, registration, and renewals.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs, improve fuel management, and optimise vehicle usage while managing the fleet budget and negotiating favourable contract terms.
- Lead initiatives to integrate sustainability practices, including adopting electric vehicles, alternative fuels, and carbon reduction strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement in fleet operations through data-driven insights, technology adoption, and process optimisation.
- Support the Fleet Managers with day-to-day tasks and collaborate with the wider team to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency.
Skills & Experience
- Multiyear experience of managing Fleet Operation and Logistics
- Experience in managing/running workshops, equipment and heavy vehicle fleet
- Mechanical experience
- People, Project, and Vendor Management
- Procurement experience
- Contract Negotiation
- Commercial and technical fleet equipment experience
